Lo scorso 17 Aprile 2011 il MOCA, Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Los Angeles ha aperto le porte per presentare ‘Art in the Street‘ la prima mostra nella storia degli Stati Uniti dedicata ai graffiti e alla street-art.
Art in the Street ripercorre lo sviluppo della street-art dal 1970 ad oggi, concentrandosi sulle principali città come N.Y., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Londra e San Paolo del Brasile, dove si è evoluto maggiormente questo linguaggio.
La mostra è stata caratterizzata da dipiniti, installazioni interattive, sculture dei 50 artisti più influenti negli ultimi anni, tra cui Banksy, Lee Quinones, Futura, Os Gemeos, Fab 5 Freddy, Swoon, Shepard Fairey, André, Mister Cartoon, Kaws, Retna e JR per citarne alcuni (cliccando sui loro nomi potrete vedere le loro opere grazie agli scatti di Brandon Shigeta per Hypebeast).
A documentare il tutto con foto e video ci pensano Terry Richardson, Spike Jonze, Martha Cooper, Steve Grody, Gusmano Cesaretti, Estevan Oriol, Henry Chalfant, James Prigoff, Ed Templeton e Larry Clark.
La mostra organizzata da Jeffrey Deitch in collaborazione con Roger Gastman e Aaron Rose durerà per 4 mesi fino all’8 Agosto 2011 presso The Geffen Contemporary al MOCA, il tutto catalogato nel libro edito da Rizzoli in vendita sullo store online del MOCA.

On April 17, 2011 MOCA, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles opened its doors to present ‘Art in the Street’ the first exhibition in the history of the United States devoted to graffiti and street art.
Art in the Street traces the development of street-art since 1970, focusing on major cities like NY, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Sao Paulo, where this language is more advanced.
The show was characterized by painted, interactive installations and sculptures of the 50 most influential artists in recent years, including Banksy, Lee Quinones, Futura, Os Gemeos, Fab 5 Freddy, Swoon, Shepard Fairey, André, Mister Cartoon, Kaws, Retna e JR to name a few (by clicking on their names you will see their work thanks to shots by Brandon Shigeta for Hypebeast).
All document with photos and video by Terry Richardson, Spike Jonze, Martha Cooper, Steve Grody, Gusmano Cesaretti, Estevan Oriol, Henry Chalfant, James Prigoff, Ed Templeton and Larry Clark.
The exhibition organized by Jeffrey Deitch in collaboration with Roger Gastman and Aaron Rose will last for four months until 8 August 2011 at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, all cataloged in the book published by Rizzoli for sale on the store online of MOCA.
